A good quality laser will work brightly for many years. A laser's alignment is crucial to high performance. Dropping your laser onto a hard surface can knock out the alignment.
We can re-align lasers for a small fee. In most cases, the exchange of the laser to a new one, is included within the small fee. Otherwise, we repair yours, and return it.

UPDATE ON GREEN & RED LASER POINTERS - Updated 10th March 2010
Many Astronomical Societies have set limits to the Output of Green Laser Pointers for use within their clubs. Various by-laws have been passed and proposed. In accordance with the new limit of 60mW for my own society, we have de-tuned a Red Laser Pointer to this output and carried out some testing.
Pricing needs to be established (looks like $140AUD for the 60mW at this stage). The Red Laser Pointer Diode we de-tuned was originally 200mW, which is a more expensive diode than a 60mW. However, a 200mW de-tuned to 60mW will last much longer.
The 60mW Red Laser Pointer produces a clear beam in suburban lighting without dark eye adaptation. We are reducing the Ouput to suit less light polluted skies and Dark Skies.
The 60mW Red Laser produces no heat - held on the hand at point blank range.
The 60mW Red Laser Pointer has the following features:

90% of the parts and labour are made here in Adelaide.
Not designed to show groups at this output, since the beam is not so noticeable when viewed from the side. This is also true for pilots, who would have trouble noticing one of these beams.
For large groups a Green Laser Pointer is best.
We are also working on Windage and Elevation Controls, built into the head of the Pointer, for use as a Finderscope. A practical test needs to be done.

1MW GREEN LASER POINTERS FOR ASTRONOMY - Updated 7th December 2009
State Laws are now in place in many states of Australia. This means Lasers above 1mW cannot be purchased in those states without a licence or permit. If a membership to an Astronomical Society is undertaken, then purchase of a Green Laser Pointer over 1mW is allowed. It is best to confirm information with your local Astronomical society first.
High Powered Green Laser Pointers can be purchased for any worthwhile use, including Mining, Building, Display etc. Federal Laws require the owner to apply for a permit from their states FireArms Dept. The Permit is a B709B and can be downloaded as a PDF File from many State Police web sites.
We have now supplying 1mW Green Laser Pointers with a higher tolerance, closer to 1mW. These Pointers are now replacing the "Astronomy Green Laser Pointers". The good new is, they are now $85AUD instead of $120AUD.
As light pollution determines how well a beam is produced, I will try to describe how well the 1mW Green Lasers Pointers perform in various light polluted conditions.
10/10 Total Dark Skies (no light pollution) - no problems, the laser will produce a beam bright enough for pointing out stars to a person next to you. It is bright enough to be used a Finderscope for your Telescope.
9/10 Darkness - our local forest is fairly dark. With no dark eye adaption, no problem seeing the beam.
8/10 Darkness - suburban lighting with dark eye adaption - no problem seeing the beam.
7/10 Darkness - suburban lighting with only 10mins dark adaption - the beam can be seen when using the laser for pointing out stars to someone next to me, or used as a Telescope Finderscope.
5/10 Darkness - Average Suburbia - full dark adaption is needed. No interruption from occassional car head lights. Difficult to see the beam going all the way up to stars.
2/10 City Skies - not a hope! 8-)

Continuous output diode pumped green laser pointers.
